McDonald’s Best Burger

In January I was lucky enough to shoot a MONSTER project for McDonalds UK. They have made their burgers EVEN better, their best burgers ever! The meat is juicier and hotter, the cheese is meltier, the salad is fresher and the buns are toastier and more brioche. For my money there’s a big improvement and brings the product closer to the more hipster high street burger chains whilst retaining a fantastic price point.

Doritos Dippers

Way back in June I was asked by Doritos to create a mountain of Doritos for their new Doritos Dippers. A crisper crunchier version of Doritos perfect for Nachos as they don’t get soggy. We were given some strict instructions around making a mountain whilst still restrained by portion control. Udo our food stylist and DOP Tim Fok did a superb job alongside Voice Over GOD of the silver screen, Red Pepper.

Flora TV

Two brand new spots from an epic job with Flora. Shot in Istanbul with the brilliant team at DARLING Films and Lucky Generals, we created a whole host of crops and cut downs, from 9.16 options to 30’s, 20’s, 10’s and 6’s across a whole host of territories and recipe alteration requirements. It was a mad matrix but also a creative joy to create a system that delivered on production, creative and of course taste.

McDonald’s Breakfast

Earlier this year I was invited back by McDonald’s to recreate my very first major campaign for them… Breakfast!

We based everything on the glorious morning sunrises just kicking the edges of the beautiful food. As always with McDonald’s there was a puzzle around backgrounds, crops, angles and being able to make each food item work at various formats with and without other items including a coffee you can see into, hence the higher angle compared to last years more foodie formats. Ultimately though I think we delivered another McDonald’s brief that really feels like food and makes you hungry for a McDonald’s Breakfast.

Alpro Feed Your You

I’m really excited to finally be able to share these images from Alpro’s European FEED YOUR YOU campaign. I worked with the brilliant team at VMLR Y&R to create a series of nine photographic images to accompany strong “FEED YOUR YOU” titles. Taking the springboard from copy like… “Making Decisions Is Hard” and “So You Dribble A Bit Cool” we built sets, cast models and created our scenes to work with and without type across a range of products and crops.

In May of 2023 I was asked by McDonald’s to shoot some TV Commercials for their SAVERS items. The affordable classics, Cheeseburgers, Double Cheeseburgers and Mayo Chicken. These have historically been single menu items but they have become part of the bigger McDonald’s world and are now available as meals.

Flora Stills

Alongside a series of TV Commercials and social films I was also tasked with shooting a series of billboards for Flora Buttery and Plant Butter. The task was to make their product look as good as butter, the same taste but with eco credentials. The deliciousness was key, alongside an oozy melty quality. We also had to shoot to various crops in one image that had to work with bending winding text that wraps around the product. A few asks but a beautiful global campaign that I was delighted to be a part of.

Hellmann’s

In an insane schedule we shot five Hellmann’s spots and a few social excerpts for multiple territories and various crops, meaning more jars of mayo than you can shake a big baguette at. An incredible team pulled together landing every moment at nearly always the first go, drop a burger and catch the bounce - you got it, try some onions falling from the lens - No problem. Props to Ogilvy, Everyone at Karma Films, Udo & Lottie on food and Tim Fok DOP as well of course Clare, Olivia and everyone at Team Darling Films.

McDonald’s Steakhouse Stack

McDonald’s is intent on making it’s customers fall in love with a tottering tower of steak patties loosely mortared together with creamy peppercorn sauce, crispy onions, cheddar cheese and salad.

In a statement, McDonald’s wrote: “The Steakhouse Stack” highlights everything fans love from McDonald’s: the juicy tender patties, the soft bun… The Steakhouse Stack has all of that, plus a few extra ingredients for an even more indulgent flavour. It’s everything you’d want in a great McDonald’s beef burger, and then some.”

It’s Back! Chicken Big Mac

It’s back, but for a limited time only! The Chicken Big Mac, everything you love about the classic Big Mac but swapping the patties for delicious chicken a la McChicken Sandwich.

Born from being the most hacked item on the McDonald’s menu, you can get it on the regular load out until the 9th May, These images, re-edited from our previous campaign are shouting the details on street corners now.

The Cornwall Project

A few films created last summer alongside camera hero Archie Thomas.

The films are a view of meat pioneer Matt Chatfield also known as the Cornwall Project. Matt farms a brilliant mutton known as the colloquial "Cull Yaw." Rich and fatty. Imagine the full flavour of Iberico pork, but now picture that with Sheep.

Regenerative and brilliant for the world. It's old school farming with modern know how making it the farming of the future.

This was a small scale production shot in a day to promote Matt, his work and personality and to help champion what he does.

McSpicy

The McSpicy will return to McDonald’s across the UK after the burger launched as a temporary item last year. Due to its popularity, this time the McSpicy is here to stay as it takes a permanent place on the McDonald’s menu.

McDonald’s Festive 2022

Another beautiful spot for McDonald’s, directing as part of their Christmas campaign. It’s not the most festive menu so the pressure was on to bring warmth and conviviality in a simple one shot food project. We wanted it to feel cosy and modern whilst being truly Christmassy.

Food once again from the brilliant Udo, Tim Fok was our rockstar DOP and Jess Elcock killed the Art Dept. Plus of course the brilliant team at Darling and Leo Burnett as ever.

Cadbury Glass & A Half

I was invited by the team at Media Monks to direct a few brand assets for everyone’s favourite chocolate brand Cadbury. We were working with Dairy Milk to continue their “Fabric Of The Nation” work, shooting a world which is believable and real with the grit of everyday life. It was a challenging brief, lots of crops from very tall and thing to very thin and wide, several territories, UK, Canada and Australia for example as well as the remit of shooting with the MM teams in Amsterdam.

I was asked to shoot the food sequence for this star-studded spot featuring Maya Jama as well as Keith Lemon, Michael Dapaah and Elz the Witch.

The new chicken burger is a beauty and goes straight onto the core menu. It was a pleasure to direct this dynamic food sequence that pushes McDonald’s further into a new and exciting world that is as dramatic as it is delicious.
