When McDonald’s shoot a TV Commercial it’s normally the case that three quarters of the ad is a lifestyle shoot with people and the final moments are food. With the McPlant McDonald’s wanted to make it all about the food and were kind enough to bring me in to direct. We shot a dynamic tabletop commercial with some beautiful food styling from Udo Reichelt-Schaurer. It’s a tricky product as it behaves differently to a normal burger but I think it looks as good as the real thing. The brilliant Jacob Hopewell was on board to direct the final eating scenes as part of the Darling Films crew.
